On July 3, 2020, a dramatic rescue operation took place in the Likoni channel, Mombasa, after a 54-year-old man fell into the water while on board the Mv. Kwale ferry.
According to Kenya Ferry Services, the incident occurred in the morning hours when the man went overboard while the ferry was en route to the Island side.
The rescue team, who were quick to respond, managed to pull the man out of the water with no visible injuries.
He was then handed over to the Ferry Police for further action, as the motive behind his actions remains unclear.
