On Friday, 3 July, police officers in Homa Bay Town made a shocking discovery in a rental house at Sango Estate. Thirty-five teenagers, aged 13 to 17, were found engaging in sexual activities and using drugs.
According to Arujo Location Chief Bob Lango, the minors were found naked and kissing each other while dancing to loud music. The house had been turned into a brothel, with several bottles of alcohol found on the floor and on a table.
Chief Lango stated, "Inside the room, there were already used condoms. We believe some of the minors were engaging in sex." The chief also reported that the minors were found smoking bhang and boozing.
Chief Lango urged parents to monitor their children's whereabouts and movements, warning that men found with teenage girls would be arrested and charged. He stated, "Men who will be found walking around with young girls will have to produce documents to show that they are related or else they will be arrested and charged."
