On a Friday evening, police in Homa Bay Town made a shocking discovery at a house in Sange estate, where they found 35 teenagers, including 20 girls and 15 boys, engaging in a sex and drugs party.

According to Arujo Location Chief Robert Lango, the minors, aged between 13 and 17, were found drinking alcohol and smoking bhang. The police chief revealed that several brands of alcohol were found on the floor and on a table in the house.

“We found used condoms which we believe the children used to engage in sex. Six managed to escape when we arrived,” Chief Lango said, adding that some of the minors were dressing up when the police arrived.

Chief Lango also revealed that a parent had rented the house for her two daughters, and neighbours had raised the alarm after hearing loud music. The police chief urged parents to closely monitor their children’s movements, especially during the holidays.

“Men found walking with young girls will have to produce documents to show they are related. We do not condone immorality in this county,” Chief Lango warned, adding that parents will be held responsible if their children get pregnant.

Following the arrest, the minors and their parents were summoned to report to the Homa Bay Police Station on Monday. The owner of the house may face charges, according to Homa Bay Sub-county Police Commander Sammy Koskey.
