On July 3, 2020, a significant milestone was achieved by Sports, Culture and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed as she was admitted to the bar as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

During a ceremony presided over by Chief Justice David Maraga at the Supreme Court in Nairobi, Amina was among the 198 advocates admitted to the bar.

With this admission, Amina is now officially licensed to practice law in Kenya, a career path she has been well-prepared for through her academic and professional background.

Ambassador Amina Mohamed is an alumnus of the University of Kyiv in Ukraine, where she earned a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Law. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in International Relations from the University of Oxford.

Her extensive experience in the field of law and diplomacy includes serving as Cabinet Secretary for Education and Foreign Affairs Ministries, Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Chairperson of the WTO General Council, Ambassador and Permanent Representative for the Kenya diplomatic mission in Geneva, Legal Adviser in Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Legal Adviser to the Kenyan delegation at the UN Security Council.
