Seven People Fined Ksh. 1000 Each for Not Wearing Masks in Migori

Published on July 4, 2020, reports from Kamagambo Police Station indicate that seven people were picked by law enforcement officers and health officials on Friday morning for not wearing masks in Migori County.

They were arraigned before a Rongo court and fined Ksh. 1000 each, bringing the total number of people arrested and fined in Rongo Sub County to 47 over the past three days.

Similar crackdowns are being carried out in Suna East Sub County, where health officers in collaboration with security officers have arrested and charged over 30 people for not wearing masks in public.

According to Suna East sub county police boss Stanley Atachavi, the public must choose between wearing masks worth Ksh. 30 or paying a fine of Ksh. 5,000 for not wearing masks.
