On Friday, the Kenyan government launched a crackdown on suppliers of illicit brews and drugs, marking the second wave of such operations. The first wave targeted consumers, while this renewed effort aims to put an end to the supply and distribution of these products by arresting dealers and brewers.

According to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, thorough investigations have identified individuals involved in the trade, particularly in Murang'a and Thika. Matiang'i stated that those found culpable will be arrested and prosecuted.

Speaking at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development in Ngara, Matiang'i emphasized that the second wave will be tougher than the first, with a focus on stopping the trend of illicit brew and drug menace in Murang'a and Kiambu counties.
