DP Ruto's 2022 Presidential Bid: A Growing Coalition ¶
Published on July 3, 2020
Deputy President William Ruto is making significant strides in his bid for the 2022 presidential election. According to sources, Ruto has assembled a team of strategists to help him win the top seat.
Among those who have joined Ruto's camp is Caroli Omondi, the former chief of staff to Raila Odinga during the 2013-2018 coalition government. Omondi's move is seen as a significant boost to Ruto's campaign, given his experience in the inner workings of the government.
Other notable figures who have joined Ruto's team include former Senator Hassan Omar, who has been a vocal supporter of the Deputy President. Johnson Muthama, a former Senator from Machakos, has also joined the team, bringing his expertise in politics and strategy.
According to Muthama, the 2022 election will be a two-horse race between Ruto's coalition and the one led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, and Gideon Moi.
David Mugonyi, Emmanuel Tallam, and Dennis Itumbi are also part of the team, handling communication and other key tasks. Davis Chirchir, Korir Sing'oei, and Augustine Cheruiyot will focus on legal and food production matters, respectively.
As Ruto's team continues to grow, it remains to be seen how the Deputy President will navigate the complex web of alliances and rivalries in the run-up to the 2022 election.
