On July 2, 2020, Suba South DCC Kamau Maina joined officials from Africa Inland Child and Community for Development (AICCAD) to launch the Child Centered Community Development Programme in Magunga shopping centre.

The programme aims to support 800 vulnerable children in the constituency, with a monthly stipend of 2,000 shillings going to 150 children with severe vulnerability.

Speaking during the launch, AICCAD programmes manager Ascar Odero explained that the money will be channelled directly to the children's caretakers to improve their lives.

“The money will be used for buying food and other basic needs,” said Merab Okwara, AICCAD coordinator.

Additionally, the organisation will distribute coronavirus preventive equipment, including 640 handwashing tanks, 1000 bars of soap, and 2000 face masks, to the remaining 650 children.

According to Odero, most of the beneficiaries rely on child labour and other outlawed activities to earn a living, and the organisation is offering this support to prevent them from engaging in activities that can ruin their lives in future.

AICCAD has also engaged more than 30 trained community health volunteers to sensitise residents on Covid-19 in the sub-county.

Suba South DCC Kamau Maina warned parents against colluding with sex suspects to abuse young girls, saying action will be taken against the culprits.
