July 3, 2020 - Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has been at the center of a social media storm after her fiery speech at a funeral in Nandi County went viral.
Speaking at the funeral of three victims of police brutality in Lessos on Thursday, Kihika called on the Kalenjin community to take action against local MPs who have turned against DP William Ruto's presidential bid.
She specifically targeted Nandi EAST MP Alfred Keter and his Cherangany counterpart Joshua Kuttuny, as well as William Chepkut (Ainabkoi) and Silas Tiren (Moiben), urging the community to ensure they are not reelected.
Locals cheered her on as she made these remarks, which were met with criticism from some quarters.
Lord Abraham Mutai, a vocal critic, accused Kihika of hypocrisy, pointing out that she was speaking in the backyard of Alfred Keter.
On the issue of police brutality, Kihika warned that Kenyans may burn all police stations if officers continue killing them instead of protecting them.
Police officers killed three residents in Lessos last week, including a physically handicapped shoe cobbler who was shot at point blank while intervening in a situation where an officer was harassing a boda boda rider for not wearing a mask.
