100-year-old patient among 247 newly detected coronavirus cases in Kenya

Kenya has reported 247 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of cases since March to 7,188. The new cases were detected from 4,417 samples analyzed within 24 hours.

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that the cumulative number of tests carried out in the country since March stands at 180,206.

Chief Administrative Secretary for Health Rashid Aman revealed that five of the 247 new cases are foreigners.

According to Aman, the new cases comprise 164 males and 83 females, with the youngest being a one-year-old infant and the oldest being a 100-year-old patient, the oldest recorded so far.

The cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi reporting the highest number of cases at 153, followed by Mombasa with 35 cases.

Other counties with reported cases include Kajiado, Busia, Kiambu, Uasin Gishu, Machakos, Garissa, Muranga, Nakuru, Siaya, Lamu, and Nyamira.

Unfortunately, the country's COVID-19 fatalities have risen to 154 after two more patients succumbed to the virus.

On a positive note, total recoveries have increased to 2,148 after 39 more patients were discharged after recovering from the virus.
