On July 3, 2020, the Ministry of Health confirmed 247 new cases of Covid-19 in Kenya, bringing the total cases recorded to 7,188.
The new cases were identified from 4,147 samples tested in the last 24 hours, with a total of 180,206 samples tested in the country so far.
Of the new cases, 242 were Kenyans, while five were foreigners. The ages of the new cases ranged from one year old to 100 years old, with 164 males and 83 females affected.
Health authorities announced that 39 patients had been discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,148.
Unfortunately, the death toll from Covid-19 in Kenya rose to 154 after two more fatalities were confirmed.
According to the Ministry of Health, Nairobi County led the pack with 153 cases, followed by Mombasa with 35, Busia with 12, and Kiambu with 12.
Health CAS Rashid Aman noted that most people who have succumbed to Covid-19 have underlying diseases such as cancer, with six patients nursing cancer succumbing to the virus.
Aman also launched the Cancer policy 2019-2030 and the breast cancer screening report, highlighting the need for cancer treatment and awareness.
He stated that people seeking cancer treatment can access the service at the nearest level five hospitals, with five additional radiotherapy facilities in select hospitals across the country.
