Kenya's Health Ministry has confirmed 247 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 7,188. This comes after 4,147 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, a significant increase from previous days.
Published on July 3, 2020, the Ministry reported that 242 of the new cases are Kenyan citizens, while five are foreigners. The breakdown of the new cases shows that 164 are men and 83 are women.
The age range of the new cases is also noteworthy, with the youngest patient being just one year old and the oldest being 100 years old.
On a more positive note, the Ministry reported that 39 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,148. Unfortunately, two more deaths have been reported, bringing the total number of fatalities to 154.
The new cases have been reported in various counties, with Nairobi leading the pack with 153 cases, followed by Mombasa (53), Busia (12), Kiambu (12), Kajiado (15), Migori (9), Uasin Gishu (4), Machakos (4), Garissa (4), Murang'a (2), Siaya (2), Lamu (1), and Nyamira (1).
