As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ravage the economy, Nation Media Group has started laying off employees, including veteran journalist Ken Mijungu, who has been with the company for seven years.
Ken Mijungu, a seasoned journalist, confirmed the news on social media, stating that he had received a letter terminating his employment.
"The layoff occurred in the NTV newsroom, and I was one of the affected employees. I received a letter terminating my employment after seven years," Mijungu said.
He expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity he had been given and to his fans for their support.
"The journey has come to an end. I thank God, and I thank you for the opportunity I had and for watching me every time," he added.
On July 1, Nation Media Group announced that it would be laying off some of its employees due to the economic impact of the pandemic.
The company cited the need to adapt to the digital age and reduce its workforce as a result of the pandemic's economic effects.
This move comes just weeks after Mediamax laid off over 100 employees.
Other employees who have lost their jobs include Nancy Onyancha and her husband Job Mwaura, who worked at K24 Television.
Additionally, other employees who have been let go include Ken Wariahe, Isabella Kituri, Caroline Wambui, Shukri Wachu, Apollo Kamau, Mercy Milanoi, Joy Kiruki, Gloria Milimu, and Kimani Githuku.
