Police in Mbita Sub County are investigating the gruesome murder of a 43-year-old cattle trader, John Ooko, who was hacked to death by unknown people on Thursday night in Lwala village, Ngodhe Sub Location.

According to Ngodhe Sub-location subchief Charles Ngoe, Ooko's body was found dumped in his maize plantation, a few meters from his home on Friday morning, with visible injuries, including serious panga cuts to the head, chin, and other parts of the body.

“The body had several panga cuts which means someone cut him with a machete. We suspect the injuries might have culminated in his death,” Ngoe said.

Police suspect that Ooko was murdered by people who intended to rob him, as his pockets were found frisked, indicating that the killers might have been after his money.

“Residents found his pockets frisked, meaning the killers might have been after his money,” said Ngoe.

Police have launched an investigation into the matter to ensure the killers are brought to book.

Early this week, a 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly being involved in the death of a 41-year-old man at a chang'aa den in the same sub-county.
