Timothy Kipngetich Kemei, a dedicated public servant and former journalist, will be laid to rest on Tuesday in his hometown of Fort Tenan, Kipkelion West.
On Sunday, Kemei, who was the chief public relations officer for Kericho County government, died after suffering a severe asthma attack at Siloam Hospital.
According to Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony, the body will be taken from the hospital mortuary on Monday for an overnight stay at Kemei's home, in line with the Kipsigis community's burial traditions.
Professor Chepkwony, who was accompanied by his deputy Susan Kikwai, signed a condolence book at the county headquarters, paying tribute to Kemei's dedication to his work.
"He was an astute, diligent civil servant, and strong pillar of my administration," Professor Chepkwony said.
Kemei is survived by his wife Mercy and their two-year-old son.
