As of July 3, 2020, Kenya has reported 6,951 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 152 virus-related deaths.
CGTN Africa's Nairobi office has been closed after six employees tested positive for COVID-19, making it the first media house to be affected by the pandemic in the country.
The six employees, who were from the same department, were tested and asked to self-quarantine at home, where they will undergo home-based and health care.
The office will remain shut for 14 days, with all operations suspended, including broadcasting. The team is expected to return to work on July 16, 2020, where they will undergo another test as a precaution.
Most of the six positive cases were asymptomatic, and the media house is the first to be hit by COVID-19 at a time when infection numbers have been rising dramatically.
On Thursday, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman confirmed 268 positive COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total tally of confirmed cases in Kenya to 6,951.
