On July 3, 2020, a dramatic scene unfolded outside Nairobi County Assembly when a man stripped naked in protest over his wife's removal as ODM nominated MCA.

Job Oduor, the man behind the protest, was reportedly upset that his wife, Eve Malenya, was being replaced by Perpetua Mponjiwa, who was set to be sworn in as MCA.

"You cannot remove my wife from her position. I want my wife back in her position," Oduor shouted as he tried to access the assembly.

However, his protest was short-lived as Mathare North MCA Jared Okode intervened, pleading with Oduor to put on his clothes.

The drama was sparked by a successful court case filed by Mponjiwa, which led to Malenya's de-registration from the IEBC nomination list last year.

As a result, the assembly stopped paying Malenya's salary and medical cover, prompting her to seek court orders to stop Mponjiwa's swearing-in.

Malenya argued that she was the right person for nomination as MCA under the gender top-up category and sought to suspend the April 5, 2019 Gazette notice on Mponjiwa's swearing-in, citing it as illegal.

She also claimed that Mponjiwa was ineligible to be nominated or elected under the ODM party list as she had run as an independent candidate in the 2017 General Election.
