On June 20, 38 teenagers from Kemboa Village in Ogembo, Kisii County, were placed under mandatory quarantine for allegedly engaging in a sex party and consuming illicit liquor.
According to Kisii County Medical Social Work lead, Evans Getuma, the parents of the 38 children will have to pay Ksh28, 000 each to secure their release.
Getuma sent an SMS to the parents on Thursday, July 2, stating, 'Dear parent/guardian, this is to inform you that your daughter/son has completed the 14-day mandatory quarantine, and will be discharged upon payment of Ksh28, 000. Thanks.'
The 38 teens had been quarantined at the Kisii High School for defying COVID-19 safety directives.
Thirty-four of the 38 teenagers were male, while four were female, aged between 14 and 20 years old.
During the quarantine, 14 used condoms and rolls of bhang were recovered at the party scene, a residential house in Ogembo Town.
