Textbook Centre HQ Closed After Staffer Tests Positive for COVID-19

Published on July 3, 2020, the Textbook Centre has taken drastic measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 after a staff member tested positive for the virus.

The staff member, who has since been isolated and is receiving treatment, has prompted the closure of the Kijabe street Headquarters and branch until further notice.

According to the organization, the closure will allow for thorough cleaning and disinfection of the premises, as well as mass screening of all staff at the headquarters.

Additionally, the organization has begun providing counselling and support to its staff.

The latest development comes as Kenya's COVID-19 case load nears the 7,000 mark, with the Ministry of Health confirming 268 new cases between Wednesday and Thursday.

Health CAS Rashid Aman stated that the country now has a total of 6,941 cases, with 259 being Kenyans and 9 foreigners.

The number of samples tested in the last 24 hours was 2,704, bringing the cumulative sample size to 176,059.

County distribution of cases is as follows: Nairobi 175, Mombasa 28, Busia 18, Kiambu 11, Kajiado 9, Migori 9, Uasin Gishu 8, Machakos 6, Narok 2, Makueni 1, and Muranga 1.
