On Thursday, July 2, Deputy President William Ruto distributed an assortment of equipment to 30 youth and women groups at his Karen official residence in Nairobi county.
The equipment included car washing machines, water tanks, sound, laundry and catering equipment, which were donated to beneficiaries from Embakasi East, Embakasi South, Dagoretti North, and Kamukunji constituencies.
According to Ruto, the revival of small micro enterprises run by the youth and women is fundamental to the economic recovery of the country, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Ideas will forever remain ideas and dreams will remain just dreams, and we will never know what we can make, what we can get and who we can be until we make the first move; until you take the first step," Ruto said.
Over the last one week, the DP has donated various items, including laundry machines, salon items, tailoring machines, water tanks, welding and sewing machines, shoe shining stands, animal feeds, and motorbikes.
As a philanthropic politician, Ruto has been supporting and offering entrepreneurship training and solutions to young people running small and medium-sized businesses.
"We are devoted to supporting and offering efficient, effective and innovative entrepreneurship training and solutions to young people running small and medium-sized businesses so that they can overcome obstacles, make use of their untapped potential and realise their dreams and aspirations," Ruto tweeted.
