On July 3, 2020, musician Kevin Bahati, popularly known as Bahati, publicly endorsed Deputy President William Ruto for the 2022 presidency at Ruto's official residence in Karen, Nairobi County.
Bahati, who had accompanied 30 youth and women groups from Embakasi East, Embakasi South, Dagoretti North, and Kamukunji constituencies to the meeting, expressed his readiness to campaign for Ruto through songs.
"In the 2017 presidential elections, I made over 555 stops in the country drumming up support for Jubilee. In 2022, I am also very prepared to ensure the Ruto ascends to power," Bahati said.
Deputy President Ruto has been vocal about his interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022, and has been crisscrossing the country popularizing his 'hustler' tag.
With the COVID-19 pandemic restricting movement and public gatherings, Ruto has been meeting small youth and women groups at his Karen office, offering them entrepreneurship training and solutions to help them overcome obstacles and realize their dreams.
"We are devoted to supporting and offering efficient, effective, and innovative entrepreneurship training and solutions to young people running small and medium-sized businesses so that they can overcome obstacles, make use of their untapped potential, and realise their dreams and aspirations," Ruto said.
