Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has taken a strong stance against Nation Media Group, threatening to sue them for interviewing Felix Orinda, also known as DJ Evolve, in a story aired on NTV.
The incident dates back to January this year, when a shooting occurred involving MP Owino and DJ Evolve at B-Club in Nairobi.
On July 1st, Owino sent a demand letter to the media house, requesting a public apology and its airing in the prime-time news within two days. Failure to comply would result in legal action against the company.
According to the letter by Okatch and Partners Advocates, Owino's instructions were to demand an apology in the prime-time news and a written apology to DJ Evolve. He also claimed that the story was meant to attack, accuse, persecute, reprimand, and convict him by whipping up emotions from the public.
Owino also disputed the conclusion that he was the one who shot DJ Evolve, stating that the victim has never issued a statement regarding the incident. He also dismissed CCTV footage showing him shooting Orinda, saying that it has not been admitted as evidence in court.
