On December 8th, 2019, a 26-year-old pregnant woman visited Lamu Police Station to report that her husband was forcing her to take abortion pills.

However, her ordeal took a tragic turn when 28-year-old Rodgers Ouma, a police officer, offered to help her solve the matter after reading her complaint.

Under the guise of providing shelter from the rain, Ouma lured the woman to his house at Langoni Police Lines, where he sexually assaulted her.

Lamu Principal Magistrate Allan Temba found Ouma guilty of rape, citing that he abused his position as a police officer.

Ouma will be sentenced on Friday, July 3rd, 2020.
