DJ Evolve's Father Defends Babu Owino Amidst Shooting Charges ¶
Published on July 2, 2020
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is currently facing manslaughter charges in connection with the shooting of DJ Evolve, an incident that occurred over six months ago at Nairobi's B club.
Recently, DJ Evolve's story was run on NTV, showing him paralyzed and bedridden following the incident. The story sparked reactions from Kenyans, with many demanding justice for the DJ.
However, in a surprising turn of events, DJ Evolve's father, John Orinda, has come out in defense of Babu Owino, saying the lawmaker has been paying for his son's medical expenses.
Orinda thanked the medics at Nairobi Hospital for their hard work in caring for his son and expressed gratitude to Babu Owino for his continued support.
"I would like to thank the Nairobi Hospital for their hard work since my son was admitted up to now. Since he was released from hospital, he has improved greatly as he is under medication and the person who brings them is Babu Owino," Orinda said.
He further stated that the nurses have been attending to DJ Evolve on a daily basis, and their expenses are usually paid by Babu Owino.
Orinda's sentiments came barely days after NTV ran a story about DJ Evolve's health status, in which his mother said they have never talked with Babu Owino.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is currently out on bail, with the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji saying he will ask the Judiciary to fast-track the case due to public interest.
