Safaricom has scheduled maintenance for Mpesa services on July 2, 2020, from 11:59 PM to 1 AM. During this time, customers will not be able to access Mpesa services such as airtime purchase, sending money, and pay bills services.
According to Safaricom, the maintenance will enable them to continue offering quality services. This comes after a previous maintenance in June 2020, which saw the launch of the Mpesa for Business App, allowing businesses to withdraw money from their mobile phones and bank accounts at agent locations.
Additionally, an update in May 2020 saw Safaricom tackle fraud with the MPESA product and ecosystem. The update introduced a new feature where customers receive an SMS from Safaricom using the ID 707 when someone tries to register a new SIM card with their ID number, allowing them to authorize or cancel the registration.
