COVID-19 Cases in Kenya Rise to 6,941

On July 2, 2020, the Ministry of Health announced that 268 people had tested positive for COVID-19 after 2,704 samples were tested.

Speaking at Afya House in Nairobi, Health Director General Rashid Aman said the new cases brought the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 6,941, up from 6,673.

According to Dr. Aman, 20 other patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, while the number of recoveries has risen to 2,109.

The number of deaths has also increased to 152, up from 149, after three more patients succumbed to the disease.

As of July 2, 2020, a total of 10,836,264 people had been reported to have been infected with the virus since its outbreak in Wuhan, China in late 2019.

Of these, 6,057,192 had recovered, while 519,605 had died.

The new cases were reported in various counties, including Nairobi (175), Mombasa (28), Busia (18), Kiambu (11), Kajiado (9), Migori (9), Uasin Gishu (8), Machakos (6), Narok (2), Makueni (1), and Muranga (1).
