Kenya Reports 268 New COVID-19 Cases, Total at 6,941

Published on July 2, 2020, Kenya has reported a significant increase in COVID-19 cases, with 268 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total caseload to 6,941.

According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman, the new cases are from 2,704 samples analyzed in the last 24 hours, out of a total of 176,659 samples tested so far.

Twenty patients were discharged, taking the total number of discharges in the country to 2,109. Unfortunately, three more people succumbed to the infections, raising the death toll to 152.

Dr. Aman revealed that the youngest of the new positive cases is a one-year-old, while the oldest is 80 years old.

The new cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi leading the pack with 175 cases, followed by Mombasa with 28, Kajiado with 9, and Machakos with 6.
