On Thursday, an emotional funeral ceremony was held in Kinangop, Nyandarua County, for the four children who were brutally killed by their mother in Naivasha last Friday.

The ceremony, which lasted for two hours, was attended by administrators, church leaders, and locals from the sleepy Murungaru village, who broke Covid-19 protocols to pay their respects.

Church leaders, including Kenya Assemblies of God cleric Francis Kamau Mwaura, called on people undergoing stressful moments to speak out and reach out to their friends and relatives for support.

"Families are going through tough times but those affected should not suffer in silence," Mr. Mwaura said.

The family of the deceased children was also incensed by social media users who posted pictures of the dead children, calling it "ethically wrong, uncalled for, and disgusting."

"It was the least we expected. It's high time that content on social media is regulated," said the family's spokesman, Macharia Kimotho.

As the four bodies were being lowered to their final resting place, tears flowed freely, and screams rent the air, with a number of mourners fainting.

The children were finally laid to rest at around 1:15 pm.
