Published on July 2, 2020, the Kenyan comedy industry has been marred by allegations of talent suppression and depression among comedians. In the past eight years, several talents have lost their lives.
Comedian Sleepy David has spoken out in defense of his friend Victor Ber, the creative director of Churchill Show, who has been accused of being the 'face of depression' in the industry.
According to Zeddy's post, Victor Ber is a 'depression maker' who has been known to be heartless and cruel to comedians. He allegedly makes performers wait for three days before rehearsal, only to reject them without explanation. Ber has also been accused of causing stress among comedians, who are forced to spend their own money on fare, clothes, and other expenses.
However, in an exclusive interview with Mpasho.co.ke, Sleepy David defended Ber, saying he is a great man who has helped many comedians, including the late Kasee. David also praised Churchill, the boss of Churchill Show, for being supportive and always willing to help his employees.
David is currently working on his own kids' show, which is set to hit the screens before the end of the year.
