On March 18th, 2018, Fareed Khimani's life took a dramatic turn. His wife, who had promised to wait for him with their two children, left him in rehab in South Africa, taking their kids to Switzerland.

Published on July 2, 2020, Khimani shared his story on Engage Talks, revealing the pain and anger he felt after his wife's departure.

At the time, Khimani was on the 18th day of his 28-day rehab stay, a period he described as a 'recovery day' where everything starts to make sense and clarity is gained.

However, unknown to Khimani, his wife had left a goodbye email at his counselor's office and flown out of the country with their children.

When Khimani discovered the truth, he was devastated and wanted to leave the rehab center. But after hours of counseling, he decided to stay and finish his sessions.

Looking back, Khimani believes his wife made the wisest decision in leaving him, as he had put their children through 10 years of hell due to his addiction.

Today, Khimani has remained clean for almost two years and has spoken publicly about his struggles with addiction.
