On July 2, 2020, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) took a significant step in its efforts to combat corruption by arresting Benard Njiraini, the Director-General of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs).
The arrest was a direct result of Mr. Njiraini's failure to comply with a Notice issued by the EACC, which had instructed him to take specific actions to address certain concerns.
As a penal consequence of his non-compliance, Mr. Njiraini was taken into custody by the EACC, marking a significant development in the ongoing efforts to promote transparency and accountability in Kenya's public sector.
