On June 29, Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili, alias Babu Owino, issued a stern warning to NTV after the media house aired DJ Evolve's health condition story.

Through his law firm, Okatch and Partners, Babu Owino demanded an apology from the Nation Media Group, citing that the manner in which the news was packaged was libelous and damaged his reputation.

According to the letter, DJ Evolve never stated that he was shot by Babu Owino, and the Directorate of Public Prosecutions confirmed that no statement was recorded on the matter.

Babu Owino gave NTV a two-day ultimatum to apologize, failure of which he vowed to take legal action against the broadcaster.

He demanded that NTV run an apology on their prime-time news and provide a written apology to him, admitting liability for the slanderous and libelous statements.

Failure to comply within the stipulated time frame would lead to Babu Owino instituting legal proceedings against NTV for slanderous and libelous defamation, as well as infringing on his client's Constitutional right to a fair hearing and to be presumed innocent.
