On June 29, Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili, alias Babu Owino, issued a stern warning to NTV, threatening to take legal action against the broadcaster over a story about DJ Evolve's health condition.
The lawmaker, through Okatch and Partners Law firm, demanded an apology from the Nation Media Group after airing DJ Evolve's story on NTV and publishing it in the Daily Nation newspaper.
According to the letter, the media house's packaging of the news report was libelous and painted Babu Owino's image badly in the eyes of society members.
"We have listened and watched the said story over and over, and indeed at no point has the said Felix Orinda stated that he was shot by our client," the letter read, quoting Babu Owino's lawyer.
The Embakasi East lawmaker gave NTV a two-day ultimatum to apologize, failing which he vowed to take legal action against the broadcaster.
"Our instructions are to demand from you that you run an appropriate apology in the prime-time news on your television channel and give an appropriate written apology to our client," the letter added.
