July 2, 2020 - The Tourism Fund is bracing for a major shake-up following the resignation of its Chief Executive Joseph Cherutoi and Director of Corporate Services Eric Kiplagat.

The two officials tendered their resignation letters, giving a 3-month notice that is set to lapse at the end of September.

According to a letter to the board of trustees and members of staff, the Fund's Chair Alfonse Kioko said a meeting scheduled for today will give a way forward.

“On June 26, 2020, we received a resignation letter from the Chief Executive Officer Mr. Joseph Cherutoi, giving three months’ notice. Further, we received a letter of resignation from the Director of Corporate Services Mr Eric Kiplagat,” Kioko said.

Cherutoi, who joined the Fund in 2014 as the Head of Finance, was named acting CEO before his resignation.

The Tourism Fund was established under the Tourism Act, 2011, and is mandated to mobilize resources to finance the development of the tourism industry in Kenya.
