Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has spoken out about his decision to leave the Wiper party, citing the nomination of Kalonzo Musyoka's son to the East African Legislative Assembly as the final straw.

Muthama, who has been associated with Deputy President William Ruto, claims that Kalonzo's decision to nominate his son was a selfish move that showed he only cared about his family's welfare, not the Kenyan electorate.

'Tell me, did you see Jaramogi Oginga nominate his sons to any political office? Did you see the first President nominate his sons? Even Raila Odinga has never tried that, what does that tell you about Kalonzo?' Muthama posed.

Muthama had already begun to question Kalonzo's leadership style before the 2017 General Elections, and he claims that nominations were rigged to favor the highest bidders, which he refused to be a part of.

After being asked to explain why action should not be taken against him, Muthama wrote back to Wiper wishing them well in their future endeavors.

'It's good riddance, ni kama kupiga chura teke (It's like kicking a frog) they are actually helped me make up my mind over leaving the Wiper,' Muthama said.

On his association with DP William Ruto, Muthama says he has no apologies to make and will fully support his bid to become Kenya's next president.

'Let them organize themselves and we organize ourselves, let's meet on the ballot, we are not afraid of them,' he said.
