Hygiene Tips for Teenage Girls

As a parent, it's essential to teach your teenage daughter good hygiene practices to help her feel confident and prepared for the challenges of adolescence.

On July 2, 2020, Lolita Bunde shared valuable tips on how to give your daughter the hygiene talk, emphasizing the importance of showering, using sanitary towels, brushing teeth, and caring for her hair.

When it comes to showering, it's crucial to remind your daughter that she can no longer shower with her brothers or skip baths. Teach her about the changes her body is going through and why she might need to shower twice a day.

Using deodorants and perfumes can also help her feel fresh and confident. Introduce her to lip balms, which are milder and friendlier than lip glosses, to prevent her lips from drying and cracking.

When it comes to sanitary towel use, teach your daughter how to use a sanitary pad and emphasize the importance of changing it every 4-6 hours to maintain good hygiene. Remind her to always put on dry underwear and avoid using scented soap to wash her lady parts.

Good oral hygiene is also essential, and it's never too early to start teaching your daughter the importance of brushing her teeth and having fresh breath. Introduce her to a lip balm to keep her lips moisturized and prevent dryness.

Caring for her hair is another crucial aspect of hygiene. Teach your daughter how to do her own hair and ensure it's always clean and moisturized. Encourage her to use hair wraps to prevent tangling and dirtying sheets with oil.

Finally, make sure your daughter knows what to carry in her bag in case of an emergency. This should include a sanitary towel, a pant, wet wipes, sanitizers, and a deodorant to help her stay clean and confident.
