Published on July 2, 2020, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu is facing an impeachment motion from the county assembly, which she attributes to the Wiper party leadership's efforts to derail her development agenda.
Speaking on Radio Maisha, Ngilu accused Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka of instructing his majority MCAs to topple her, citing a warning he gave her during her swearing-in ceremony.
'He attended my swearing-in ceremony and warned me that I will not have an easy time because he has majority members in the Assembly. It has now come to pass,' Ngilu said.
Ngilu, who has written several letters to the Assembly without response, believes the Wiper brigade is under pressure to impeach her due to party leadership's influence.
With 30 Wiper party MCAs and 12 from Ngilu's Narc party, the assembly has 54 members in total. Ngilu has expressed her willingness to engage in dialogue with MCAs to resolve their differences.
