On July 1, 2020, the African Development Bank's board of governors announced the formation of a panel to investigate allegations of corruption against its president, Akinwumi Adesina.

The panel, led by former Irish President Mary Robinson, will review a report by the bank's Ethics Committee, which cleared Adesina of corruption accusations in early May.

However, the US had rejected the initial inquiry, citing concerns over its impartiality.

Adesina has denied allegations of poor governance, impunity, personal enrichment, and favoritism at the bank, which was highlighted in a 15-page report earlier this year.

The probe is expected to deliver its findings within two to four weeks.
