On July 2, 2020, South Sudan's Health Ministry confirmed 18 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country's total to 2,021 cases.

The new cases were identified through 95 samples tested on Tuesday by the Public Health Laboratory.

One of the new cases was a male adult who tested positive for the virus in Nimule Town, Eastern Equatoria State, a border town neighboring Uganda.

Despite the increase in cases, the number of Covid-19 fatalities remains at 38, while the number of patients who have recovered from the virus increased to 279.

Dr. Richard Laku, Covid-19 Incident Manager, urged citizens to continue adhering to social distancing and other anti-coronavirus measures to slow the spread of the virus.
