On July 1, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta visited Harambee House in Nairobi to hand over a brand new 52-seater team bus to Nzoia Sugar FC. The team, which competes in the Kenya Premier League, had accumulated 13 points after 22 matches before the coronavirus pandemic disrupted sporting activities worldwide.

President Uhuru handed over the bus to Nzoia Sugar Company Chairman Joash Wamang'oli, who thanked the Head of State and assured the team would produce better performances in the new KPL season expected to kick off in August.

Alongside the bus, President Uhuru also donated Sh2 million to the Bungoma-based football team. Nzoia Sugar Chairman Evans Kadenge expressed gratitude for the donation, stating that the team would decide on how to distribute the funds to players and the technical bench.

Other leaders who attended the function included Governors Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Sospeter Ojaamong (Busia), Wycliffe Wangamati (Bungoma), Wilbur Ottichilo (Vihiga), and Patrick Khaemba (Trans-Nzoia). Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli were also present.

"We are coming home with our bus," Nzoia Sugar FC tweeted, thanking President Uhuru and Devolution CS Hon. Eugene Wamalwa for gifting the team with a bus.

Photos of the new Nzoia Sugar team bus were shared on social media, showcasing the team's excitement and gratitude for the generous donation.
