On June 29, Bishop Elisha Juma, a respected Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG) Tudor bishop, passed away at Mombasa Hospital due to complications from Covid-19. The news comes as a devastating blow to his family, who were still reeling from the loss of his eldest son, Peter Juma, 35, who died in the United States on March 28.
According to the family, Bishop Juma had been admitted to the hospital for some time due to high blood pressure and diabetes. His son Peter had worked as a paramedic at St Catherine of Siena Hospital and had last visited Kenya over the Christmas period in 2019.
Close family members revealed that Bishop Juma had expressed hope that his son's remains would be buried at a place where the family could pay their final respects after the pandemic. The family is now planning to raise funds to help pay funeral expenses and the hospital bill, totaling Sh2 million.
The burial of Bishop Juma will take place on July 4 at his rural home in Kabondo Kodumo, Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County. Condolence messages have been pouring in on social media platforms, with many expressing their shock and sympathy for the family's loss.
