On July 2, 2020, the concept of e-governance was highlighted as a key factor in making government information more accessible to the public.

E-governance has enabled citizens to become active participants in the governance process, rather than passive users. For instance, the iTax system has streamlined the filling of taxes, reducing long queues for all.

The e-citizen portal has also transformed the access of most government services to the citizenry, with the private sector encouraging their clients to transact online.

As a result, e-governance enhances transparency and accountability, useful for improving civil participation among the citizenry.

Moreover, e-governance systems facilitate access to information and communication opportunities, serving as a powerful tool to improve control and transparency.

Government reports on financial situations, strategic visions, and public policies are published on institutional websites for public access and feedback.

Furthermore, e-governance enhances citizen participation, where citizens are perceived as partners in government and involved in phases of public policy.

However, despite government efforts to enhance e-governance, there are bottlenecks that have hindered its uptake, including a lack of awareness among citizens and a shortage of workers equipped with knowledge and technical skills.
