Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has been discharged from a hospital in the United Arab Emirates and is expected to return to the political scene soon.
According to a video clip posted on Twitter by his daughter Winnie Odinga on Wednesday, Mr Odinga expressed his gratitude to Kenyans for their messages of goodwill, saying he felt 'very strong and rejuvenated' after his hospitalization.
Mr Odinga, 75, had been admitted to a German hospital in Dubai for a minor surgical operation on his back, which was confirmed by his elder brother Dr Oburu Oginga last week.
Dr Oginga revealed that Mr Odinga was being monitored at a hospital facility in Dubai, but did not disclose the name of the facility.
Mr Odinga's hospitalization had sparked speculation about his whereabouts, but his daughter Winnie Odinga assured Kenyans that he was recovering well outside the country.
As an indication that Mr Odinga was ready to return to politics, his daughter Winnie said he was 'back and ready for the game.'
Mr Odinga's return to politics is expected to be marked by his participation in the implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, which he had promised Kenyans would be implemented through a referendum.
