July 1, 2020 - Kenya has discharged 50 COVID-19 patients, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 2,089.
Health Ministry's Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Rashid Aman attributed the increase in recoveries to the dedication of health workers and urged Kenyans to take personal responsibility in containing the spread of the disease.
“50 patients have been discharged but sadly we have lost one more life to the disease,” Dr. Aman said, emphasizing the need for continued adherence to containment measures.
These measures include wearing a mask in public places, sanitizing or washing hands, and maintaining a 1.5-meter social distance.
Dr. Aman warned that if Kenyans continue to ignore these measures, the spread of the disease will go out of control.
On Wednesday, Kenya recorded 307 positive cases of COVID-19, the highest infections reported on a single day, with almost all counties having recorded a case of coronavirus.
