Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has recovered from a successful procedure in Dubai and is now recuperating. According to a video that has surfaced, Raila is feeling good and fresh, ready to resume his duties.
Speaking in the video, Raila thanked his friends and supporters for the messages of goodwill while he was being treated in Dubai. 'I want to thank all my friends, supporters and all youth who have sent me messages of goodwill. It has been amazing and wonderful. It makes you recover so fast,' he said.
His family had earlier told The Standard that Raila was out of danger but would not be coming back soon. His wife Ida said he had been successfully treated for a nerve disorder affecting one leg and needed more time to rest.
News about Raila's whereabouts was first revealed by Oburu Odinga, who said his brother had left the country for the UAE. Oburu had initially denied reports that Raila had left the country, saying he was out of the country for a minor surgical operation on his back.
Ida, however, would not confirm or deny reports that the politician had left the country in an air ambulance, or say who accompanied him. She talked of him having nerve problems in the foot, which could be medically related to Oburu's earlier claim of a backache.
