On the Mombasa-Malindi highway, a new residential district is emerging in the midst of neat rows of Sisal. The Vipingo Development, a 10,254-acre mixed-use project by Centum Investment Plc, is the largest of its kind in the region.
Strategically located 35Km from Mombasa City CBD, the development enjoys excellent road connectivity via the Mombasa-Malindi Highway and the Mariakani-Kaloleni-Mavueni bypass. It is also close to Mombasa and Kilifi CBDs, Vipingo airstrip, Moi International airport, and Malindi airport.
The development, which seeks to provide the lowest cost and most competitive location for business in the region, is anchored by an Investment Park set on 1,151 acres. The park has 250 acres set aside for Phase 1, with serviced plots suitable for warehousing, logistics, light and medium processing industries, EPZ, and commercial developments.
Additionally, the development has a 3 million litres/day sea water desalination plant under construction to provide potable and reliable water supply.
The residential zone of the development hosts three residential projects: Awali Estate, 1255-Palm Ridge, and KingsWood Park. Awali Estate is an exclusive gated community comprising 152 bungalows and maisonettes, with amenities such as children's play areas and playgrounds, a swimming pool, a jogging track, and expansive green parks. The estate is scheduled for handover in September 2020.
1255-Palm Ridge is an affordable housing project with 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments in a gated community. The first phase of the apartments is sold out and is set for handover at the end of December 2020, with the second phase scheduled for handover in April 2021.
KingsWood Park offers serviced plots from 1/8th acre with four unique typologies that landowners can build from. This mega project is set to transform Kilifi County and the Kenyan Coast at large.
