On July 1, 2020, the Senate witnessed a dramatic scene as Senators Beatrice Kwamboka and Mary Seneta exchanged blows during the election of the vice chair of the House Health committee.
The altercation started moments after Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina was declared the winner of the contested election, beating Seneta.
According to senators who were at the meeting, the fight was triggered by an alleged forgery of the signature of nominated Senator Millicent Omanga, who was absent, to ensure Seneta won the seat.
Seneta was reportedly backed by a section of the committee members led by Deputy Majority Chief Whip Farhiya Ali.
Deputy Minority Whip Beatrice Kwamboka shouted, 'You can not tell me anything, I am in the leadership, I will deal with you.'
Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina expressed shock at the happenings, saying, 'How come I always have problems in every committee I am elected to lead? I was elected the chair of CPAIC, I was kicked out and now vice chair of health committee.'
Sen. Ledama Olekina (@ledamalekina) also tweeted, 'Trouble, trouble, trouble, trouble, feels like every time I get back on my feet, she come around and knock me down again!'
