Kenyans Demand Justice for DJ Evolve

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino's past actions are coming back to haunt him, thanks to a renewed campaign by Kenyans on Twitter demanding justice for Felix Orinda, aka DJ Evolve.

On January 16, 2020, Owino shot DJ Evolve at a popular club in Nairobi, an incident that was captured on video. He was subsequently charged with attempted murder and released on a Sh10 million bail.

Since then, DJ Evolve has been in hospital, only recently discharged to continue recuperating at home. An exclusive interview with DJ Evolve on NTV gave Kenyans a glimpse of the extent of the damage caused by the injuries he sustained from the shooting.

During the interview, DJ Evolve struggled with his speech as he narrated his story, revealing that he is yet to recover full mobility of some of his body parts. This has awakened the wrath of Kenyans online, who are now embarking on a fresh campaign to seek justice for the deejay.

As one Twitter user put it, 'I'm so sorry we have failed you for so long #DjEvolve stay strong brother.'

Others have expressed outrage at the lack of justice for DJ Evolve, with one user saying, 'Justice to the highest bidder is the nature of the Kenyan law. A reckless shot has robbed a young man his tools of work and a six months bed rest. But what has the system done? It has kept quiet and watching.'

With the hashtag #DjEvolve trending on Twitter, Kenyans are demanding justice for the deejay and calling out Embakasi East MP Babu Owino for his actions.
