July 1, 2020 - Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing pain and discomfort. While it can be a significant challenge for women trying to conceive, it's not a guarantee that pregnancy is impossible.

According to doctors, endometriosis can affect fertility in several ways. If the condition affects the ovaries and/or fallopian tubes, it can prevent the egg from traveling to the uterus, making conception difficult or impossible. Additionally, inflammation caused by endometriosis can damage a woman's eggs or a man's sperm, further reducing the chances of pregnancy.

However, there are treatment options available to help women with endometriosis get pregnant. One option is egg freezing, which allows women to use their eggs later in life. Another option is superovulation and intrauterine insemination (SO-IUI), which involves insemination with a partner's sperm after medications are used to produce multiple eggs. In vitro fertilization (IVF) is also an option, where an egg is extracted from the woman and fertilized outside the body before being implanted into the uterus.

While treatment options are available, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is also crucial in managing endometriosis symptoms and increasing the chances of pregnancy. This includes maintaining a healthy weight, eating a balanced diet, and exercising regularly.
