Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was a no-show at President Uhuru Kenyatta's 100-day celebration of Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) on June 30, but that didn't stop him from having a good time. The Governor was seen partying with four friends at an undisclosed location, enjoying drinks and good company.
Meanwhile, President Uhuru Kenyatta marked the occasion at Harambee House in Nairobi, where he received a report on the agency's progress. Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja and NMS Director General, Major General Mohammed Badi, were also in attendance.
However, Sonko's night out was not without its challenges. A team of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers raided his Upper Hill office as part of an investigation into the acquisition of a multi-million shilling property from Kenya Railways Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme.
President Uhuru Kenyatta later toured some of NMS's projects in Nairobi's informal settlements, visiting water boreholes and purification facilities at Kiboro Primary School (Mathare), Chief's Camp (Mathare North), and Kibra DCC's office. He expressed satisfaction with the agency's progress in implementing its directives.
